You are able to navigate through the doors to the middle of the hall and find the pliers sitting behind a plant pot, and bring them back to the time machine.

Like FIG Bot mentioned, you see that one blue wire is accidentally cut in half behind the clock, and you can use the pliers and twist the wire back together!
